The Hilton Hotel Chicago features many French fresco artwork located on the ceilings and walls of the hotel,  in the main lobby and primarily in the hotel's Grand Ballroom. Fresco painting, a method of painting water-based pigments on plaster, is then placed on various wall surfaces. The colors are created from grinding dry-powder pigments in water,  then laid out to dry and set on the plaster to become a lasting part of the wall. 29 French inspired frescoes surround the Grand Ballroom in the hotel, representing French antiquity that revolves around themes of nature and love. The French frescoes draw upon Bertha Palmer's impressionist and French inspired artwork found at The Palmer House. Bertha Palmer was known for her interest in depicting love and beauty through her fresco artwork, which is found throughout The Conrad Hilton Hotel Chicago.
