Frederick Thielbar was born in 1866 and died on Nov. 15, 1941. He worked at the popular architecture firm Holabird & Roche for 14 years and was a junior partner at the firm before leaving to team up with Fugard.

John Reed Fugard lived from Dec. 6, 1886 to Aug. 17, 1968. He studied architecture at the University of Illinois before working with architect George Knapp until 1925. During this time, he built several skyscrapers including the Allerton and Belmont Hotels. Most notably, he helped design the Moody Memorial Church.

Century Tower features sculptures by the husband and wife duo Gwen and Eugene Lux. Both were prominent sculptors at the time and had worked on buildings such as the Radio City Music Hall in New York City and the General Motors Technical Center in Detroit. Gwen Lux had also previously worked alongside Thielbar & Fugard to create the relief sculptures on the exterior of the McGraw-Hill Building.

Century Tower also features grillework above the entry doors by Chicago-based artist Edgar Miller. Miller was a prominent advocate of the arts and crafts movement and was known as a Renaissance man due to the many mediums he worked in. In addition to many other things, he sculpted, painted, carved wood, and made prints and stained glass. He was very popular throughout the 1920s and 1950s, creating artwork for many industrial designers of the time.
