The Grand Ballroom

The Grand Ballroom is a feat of its own, symbolizing architectural ingenuity of its time as it is a gigantic room free of pillars, rather consisting of an underground support system of 240 ton pillars and trusses holding up each room and all 28 floors. The Romans were one of the first civilizations to incorporate and design trusses for the roofs of their temples and buildings, in addition to the bridges they constructed over long distances. Steeped in history and decorated with gilt, Parisian crystal chandeliers and mirrored accents matched from France's Palace of Versailles, and French frescoes symbolizing themes of love, beauty, and nature as inspired by Bertha Palmer's impressionist artwork from The Palmer House, the Grand Ballroom is an unparalleled setting that depicts historical artistry through beaux-style ornamentation and artwork.
