Moving Videos Between Panopto Folders

If you have videos that are stored in a Panopto folder that you need to move into a new folder (for example, into the course site for a future version of a Canvas course), follow the directions below.

Note: if you are moving a video from an existing Canvas course into a new one, you will need to enable Panopto in the new course first before following the steps below.

Log into your instance of Panopto via your browser, click Browse in the left-hand menu, then find the folder containing the video(s) you want to move. For a Canvas course, find the Canvas folder in the Browse pop-out and click the arrow to its left to reveal the list of available courses. Click on the folder for the course containing the video(s) you want to move.

Hover your cursor over the video you want to move to reveal a checkbox in the upper left-hand corner of the preview image. Click the checkbox to select the video, then click Move from the options listed at the top of the page.

Click on the drop-down menu below " Move session(s) to" at the top of the pop-up window, then select the folder to move the video into.

Click the purple Move button in the top right corner of the pop-up window.

The video will now appear in the new folder of your choosing. You can confirm by navigating to the folder, or in Canvas, refreshing the Panopto page of the new course site that you are moving the video into.
