Suggested Settings in New Quizzes

You can adjust the delivery settings for an assessment in New Quizzes. These options will change the way an assessment is delivered to students. As you consider the needs for your assessment(s) in your course, you will determine the optimal combination of settings for each quiz.

Key Preliminary Quiz Settings - first step:

  • Set the total point value of a quiz and make sure the question points match this total to avoid scaled grading
  • Set the availability window and deadline
  • Consider adding a rubric for subjective-response questions

Restrict Student Result View

If you do not want students to see anything after they submit the quiz except for a submission confirmation message, the "Restrict student result view" setting must be turned on, and all the settings boxes beneath it must be unchecked. If this switch is turned on and no boxes are checked, students will not see anything except a quiz submission confirmation and their grade, when it is posted.

Note: Students can still see their assessment grades in the Gradebook when the "Restrict student result view" option is enabled. To completely hide grades from students, you will need to enable a Manual posting policy in the Gradebook Links to an external site..

Key Moderation Settings - within New Quizzes:

  • Add additional attempts
  • Add additional time (once set for one quiz, applies to all quizzes for that student in the course)

The Moderate area also allows instructors to view individual student quiz attempts and access SpeedGrader.
