Pearson Accessibility Information
Pearson offers a series of My Lab courseware. These services allow instructors to assign lesson, activities, and assignments for students to complete. Pearson integrates with Canvas for sign-in and grading updates, but a majority of the interaction in within the My Lab platform.
Affected Users
My Lab Math
People using screenreaders will be most affected, though in a few cases, people using keyboard support and people with low vision may encounter a few instances of inaccessibility content.
Known Accessibility Barriers
My Lab Math
People using screenreaders will not be able to consistently access some areas of My Lab Math on the web. Some PowerPoint content will also include inaccessible images or charts.
People using keyboard support should be able to access most material on the web, though there are instances where buttons and tooltips cannot be operated with a keyboard on the web.
People with low vision may encounter a few instances of low color contrast or inaccessible content in zoom mode on the web.
Alternate Access
Instructors
For instructors using screenreaders, a TA will be needed to support the entirety of My Lab Math. For instructors using keyboard support with MyLab Math, a TA may be needed for periodic support.
Students
For web content, the instructor and department will need to create or provide access to accessible content and assignments for people using screenreaders. PowerPoint content is mostly accessible for screenreader issues, but there may be instances where textual content needs to be created and provided for inaccessible images. Electronic documents from My Lab Math should be accessible. In this instance, a staff member in the department will need to coordinate with AccessibleNU and an outside vendor to provide equally effective alternate access.
People using keyboard support and people with low vision might need assistance in accessing certain pages or functionals in My Lab Math. A TA should be available to provide guidance if necessary.
Additional Support
If these workarounds are not sufficient to provide access for a specific individual, accommodations may be necessary. To address accommodation needs:
