Collaborations & Google Drive-2
Collaborations in Canvas now includes a Google Drive integration. This feature allows instructors and students the ability to authorize their Google Drive accounts in Canvas, promoting easier access to creating, sharing, and collaborating.
This tool is intended for use in Collaborations, Cloud Assignments, and content sharing. Google Drive Collaborations include the use of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues with Canvas and Google Drive
If you have trouble getting Google Drive to connect with Canvas, please first try the following:
- Log out of Canvas
- Go to your Google and log out of any/all connected accounts
- Clear your browser cache
- Close and then open a new browser window
- Go to Google and log in with the account you want to access in Canvas via the integration (leave this tab open once signed in)
- In a new tab, log in to Canvas, go to the course and try to set up the connection again
If you still experience issues after these steps, it is likely because your browser is blocking third-party cookies (which is required for the connection to work). To enable third-party cookies in Chrome (the recommended browser for Canvas), follow these steps:
- Press the 3 Dot Button in the top right corner of your browser
- Click Settings
- In Settings, click on Privacy and Security
- From there you will see something called Site Settings, then click on Cookies and Site Data
- If Block Third-Party Cookies is enabled, Disable (uncheck) it
If Block Third-Party Cookies was previously enabled, please then start over with the procedure we tried before of logging out of everything, clearing cache, and then logging back in.
If you are using another browser, please search "[browser name] enable third party cookies" to find directions for that browser.
If none of the steps above work, try switching to a different internet connection (switch wi-fi networks or connect to VPN) or attempt using a new machine as it may be specific to a setting on the machine or network you are currently using which is causing the issue.
