Course Overview

This self-paced course is designed for faculty who have never used Zoom or are just getting started. The first module of this course is a Quick Start Guide. If you are on a tight schedule and need just the basics to get you up and running right away, that module is for you.

The remaining modules are more in-depth and cover some of the most frequently used features and functions of Zoom. However, Zoom is a robust, dynamic, and frequently updated software with many capabilities we aren't able to cover in this training. The content of this course will give you a solid foundation in the software and hopefully inspire you to imagine the possibilities for student engagement and learning once you are comfortable with Zoom.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

  • schedule Zoom meetings
  • record Zoom meetings (and locate recordings to share)
  • troubleshoot common issues participants may encounter
  • admit participants from the waiting room
  • manage in-meeting functions including breakout rooms, chat box and reactions, polls, screen sharing, and other controls

Course Structure

This course is divided into Modules, and you are able to freely navigate to any module at anytime. We recommend investing 4–6 hours of time—before you start teaching with Zoom—to go through all the modules in order. After completing this training, you will continue to have access to this site and all the resources it contains.
