Deleting Recordings
In accordance with the Office of the Provost's guidelines for recording synchronous remote class content, all recordings of class meetings with students should be deleted at the conclusion of the term unless there are specific circumstances that require a recording remain available.
Meeting recordings scheduled through Canvas can be deleted by the host in either the Canvas course or through https://northwestern.zoom.us/ Links to an external site.. Deleting the recording in one area will remove it from both locations.
PLEASE NOTE: Instructors do not need to delete Zoom recordings of lectures recorded without students.
Deleting Zoom Recordings in Canvas
To delete a Zoom recording in Canvas:
- Navigate to a Canvas course and click on Zoom on the left navigation.
- Select Cloud Recordings from the top menu bar.
- In the link with the Meeting name, click delete.
PLEASE NOTE: If you added Zoom meeting recordings to the Panopto folder in a Canvas course, click on the Panopto tab in the left navigation, hover over the recording, and click Delete.
Deleting Zoom Recordings on the Zoom Site
To delete a Zoom recording at northwestern.zoom.us:
- Log in to https://northwestern.zoom.us/ Links to an external site.
- Click on Recordings in the left navigation panel.
- Locate the recording, and then click the "More" button to the right of the video for the option to delete the video.
Deleting Zoom Recordings in Panopto
Many instructors have a Panopto account through Northwestern IT. In most cases, Zoom meeting recordings are backed up to Panopto. To delete meeting recordings in your Panopto account, follow these instructions to log in to Panopto and locate your recordings: Managing Zoom Recordings in Panopto Guide
