Recording policies

The Office of the Provost provides these guidelines for recording synchronous remote class content to ensure you are consistent with University policies. These guidelines include:

  • Suggested text for class syllabi
  • Guidelines for recording of class sessions by students
  • Policies related to accessibility and copyright

As a reminder, individual breakout rooms are not recorded or included in the main session when recording.

It is recommended that all recordings of class meetings with students be deleted at the conclusion of the term unless there are specific circumstances that require a recording remain available.

Deleting Recordings

At the conclusion of the quarter, instructors can delete recordings of class meetings in one of two ways:

  1. Go to the Recordings tab at https://northwestern.zoom.us/ Links to an external site., locate the recording, and click More (to the right of the recording name), and then Delete.
  2. Go to the Zoom tab within a Canvas course, click on Cloud Recordings in the top bar, locate the recording and click the Delete button to the right.

Recordings deleted using either method will be deleted in both Canvas and at https://northwestern.zoom.us/ Links to an external site..
